ANNOUNCEMENT

In an effort to limit the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) as well as following the Washington State Governor’s orders on restricting gatherings, we have decided to CLOSE the Rissho Kosei-Kai Buddhist Center effective immediately until further notice. This was a very difficult decision to make, but the safety and well-being of our members is of the highest importance. We will continue to follow the public health announcements and act accordingly with follow-up announcements.

Even though The Buddhist Center will be closed, we will STILL OFFER all Services, Buddhist Studies, and Ceremonies online through ZOOM, a video conferencing service. We will send the weblinks weekly by email.

All you need to do is follow the link on your computer, tablet, or smartphone to participate in these services. The services will include sutra recitation, a brief Dharma Talk, and Hoza.  If you have any questions about participating in these services and classes on ZOOM, please contact us.

We understand that this kind of gathering is not as ideal as physical gatherings, but what is most important is keeping the connection with the sangha and practicing the Dharma. We are fortunate to have this technology for us to hold virtual services and still be able to interact with one another.

We would like to ask all of our members to join together in practicing Kigan-kuyo, which is a period of prayer, for the health and security of our members in Seattle as well as around the world through this challenging time. In addition to your normal recitation practice, let us chant Ch. 25 from the Kyoten or Lotus Sutra each day until April 15th, wishing for our members and families to be at peace.

Lastly, as we will be affected financially from the lack of attendance, we highly encourage you to consider making a special donation to help our sangha get through this difficult time.

On this website, we have a DONATE button where you can make donations on the Home page. Otherwise, you may of course mail in checks for your donations. All contributions will be much appreciated.

May the Buddha watch over and protect us all. We look forward to seeing you all online soon!
